Shazam: Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg trolls fans with a poll asking them to pick their fantasy cameo for your DC sequel. Sandberg first joined the DCEU with last year’s Shazam, a lighthearted experience that felt just like a spiritual successor to Tom Hanks’ Big. The film introduced Billy Batson (Asher Angel) to the universe and explored his source story following his sudden purchase of godlike powers. In short, when he states the word”Shazam,” he becomes a totally grown superhero (played by Zachary Levi). Shazam was a moderate victory for the DCEU, and a sequel was shortly greenlit.
At this point, very little is known about the second Shazam, mainly because it isn’t slated for release until November 2022. At DC FanDome last month, Sandberg, Levi, and other cast members were available to confirm the movie’s title will probably be Shazam: Fury of the Gods. Beyond this, Sandberg revealed that the movie will have a larger focus on Billy’s family now that they all have abilities like him. Fans are excited to see where Fury of the Gods will go, especially because it’ll eventually be moving beyond Billy’s origin.
Sandberg is undoubtedly hard at work in preparing for Fury of the Gods, and he seemed to give enthusiasts the opportunity to make a pivotal choice for the film. He shared a survey on social media asking fans which DC personality they want to see in the movie, with all the choices being Superman, Batman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, and the contested trucker from Superman II (played by Pepper Martin). Fair warning to all those who put in a vote to get a major DCEU personality… it won’t be for the individual you desire. However, many times you vote.
Yes, the poll consistently behaves like somebody is voting for your trucker. Honestly, this is a fairly amusing prank, even if some could be bummed it isn’t a significant poll. The first Shazam featured a half-cameo out of Superman in the feeling that his body was on screen, but Henry Cavill’s face wasn’t. Fans were somewhat disappointed with this and hoped Cavill could appear in Fury of the Gods. However, it remains to be seen that DC characters (if any) will appear in the sequel.
One big competitor is Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam, one of Shazam’s most important comics enemies. Johnson will make his DCEU introduction in 2021 if his inaugural Royal film arrives, and it isn’t clear if he’ll then appear in Fury of the Gods. Regardless of whether he does, fans are thrilled by the prospect of almost any DC character joining forces with Billy and his loved ones. However, they may not be super overjoyed in case it turns out to be the eldest truck driver from Superman II.
